I was diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma on my nose in 2016. After one attempt to remove this in day surgery at the Churchill Hospital the condition recurred and I was referred to consultant plastic surgeon Matthew Potter to explore my options.
Matt was brilliant from the outset. He explained clearly about possibilities of either radiotherapy or surgery or a combination of the two, with clear and honest advice on the pros and cons of each. In the end I opted for full surgery, which entailed removing most of the skin across my entire nose and replacing it with a graft from the side of my neck. In practice, he carried out the work using sections taken in real time to assess whether all of the cancerous skin had been removed. In the event, this seems to have been highly successful and the whole carcinoma was removed with a healthy margin all around. Despite the radical nature of this procedure, the graft has taken well and healed almost invisibly. I cannot praise Matt’s and his team’s skill enough in achieving this result.
Since then, I have been monitored by Matt and his team at the Blenheim Head and Neck unit, during which they have checked me over at regular intervals to ensure there has been no recurrence of the SCC or related complications anywhere on my body - none so far! These inspections are always conducted with great thoroughness, courtesy and professionalism, and inspire confidence that I am receiving the best possible treatment. I cannot thank Mr Potter enough for the efforts of him and his team and would recommend him without reservation.
I have recently been seen by Mr Potter for a wide local excision following a NHS initial excision. I wanted a private plastic surgeon in order to ensure the scare would be presented at its best. Although it is early days and the scare is healing well and the results are looking great thus far, if anyone wants a surgeon who takes time to explaine what the condition is you have and has an excellent bed side manner with excellent results, I can assure you that all of these qualities and more Mr Potter displays. I would say I am the worst patient ever and he definitely put me at ease. After care is excellent and I would not go to anyone else now that I have experienced his professional care and skills.
I went to see Mr Potter to talk to him about wanting to look younger, more like my old self. I found him to be easy to talk to and very patient with me. I have seen him a few times now and am trying facial creams that are wonderful.
I can't recommend him highly enough.
I was feeling unhappy about my skin, it was looking dull and tired, the joys of turning 40 and spending my childhood in the sun. After speaking to Mr Potter, he recommended I start using ZO, nothing radical but a great solution for my kind of skin. He was extremely encouraging and thorough when talking through the benefits of the product. This included using an spf all the time as ZO is very sensitive to the sun. I was so happy with the results, after a few weeks people were commenting on the youthful appearance of my skin, brilliant!! I’ve been back to Mr Potter to get more of the product and he continues to give me excellent care and advice!
I had a labiaplasty by Mr Potter eighteen months ago now. I was really nervous at first but he put me at ease straight away. I am so so happy with the results and a lot more confident, so thank you! A great guy and a fantastic surgeon, can’t recommend enough
